INSTRUCTOR BIOS

Roger I. Burgraff, Ph.D. is a professional public speaker and seminar leader. Dr. Burgraff has an impressive record of conducting seminars and speaking programs for over 200 organizations, including Apple Computer, AT&T, Bank of America, technical workshop facilitator in equipment safety and in video training techniques. He also teaches for the COD Leadership Series. Dr. Burgraff holds a B.A. and M.A. from DePaul University and a PhD from University of Denver. Classes of Expertise: Interpersonal Communication, Effective Presentations, Conflict Resolution, and Leadership Development.

J.M. Evosevich, Ph.D. has a Ph.D. in Clinical and Industrial Psychology, and has worked with organizations for over fifteen years assisting them in developing their greatest asset - people. He teachings management development classes for the COD Leadership Series. Mr. Evosevich received a BS from the University of Texas, an MA from National University, and a Ph.D. from California Coast University. Classes of Expertise: Strategic Planning, Conflict Resolution, Interpersonal Skills, goal Setting, and Change Management.

Wendy Flint, MPA is Director of Contract Education at College of the Desert. She has over 14 years experience in instructional design and corporate training, including Training Specialist and Learning Center Manager at Hewlett-Packard, and Training Manager at Electric. Ms. Flint is a faculty member at College of the Desert and teaches Principles of Leadership and she teaches for the COD Leadership Series. Ms. Flint has a BA in Communications with specialization in training and Development, an MA in Public Administration and is working on her Ph.D. Classes of Expertise: Leadership, Performance Management, Coaching for Performance, Goal Setting, Decision Making and Problem Solving, Process Improvement, Conflict Resolution, and Interpersonal Communication.

Don Franklin, Ph.D. has been in private practice as an organizational psychologist for over 20 years. He has designed test- and interview-based selection and performance evaluation systems for large and small companies, as well as police forces, transit properties, and public utilities. He has a doctoral degree in experimental social psychology and currently is a part-time institutional researcher at COD to design and conduct research oriented toward measuring and improving student outcomes and performance. Dr. Franklin teaches for the COD Leadership Series. Classes of Expertise: Emotional Intelligence, Managing Change, Stress Management, and Performance Management.

Jerry Stenger teaches performance development, recruitment, employee relations, training and policy development. With twenty years at Beckman Instruments, Inc., as Human Resource Manager, Mr. Stenger has a wide range of professional experiences to offer. He holds a Bachelor's Degree from Cal-State Fullerton in Business Administration. Classes of Expertise: Interviewing, Performance Management, Team Decision Making and Problem Solving, Meeting Management, and Unlawful Harassment.

Gail Schwartz graduated with honors from the University of Redlands with a degree in Business Management and Administration. With 15 years experience in post-secondary education both as faculty and an administrator, her experience includes the development of productive relationships with education and prominent companies including Neiman Marcus, the Regent Beverly Wilshire, Sony Music, Fairchild Publications, as well as public relations firms, trend forecasting services and buying offices throughout Southern California. Ms. Schwartz is an instructor for the COD Leadership Series and Customer Service Academy. Classes of Expertise: Time Management, Team Building, Customer Service, and Meeting Management.

Pam LiCalsi, MS is Director of the Workplace Learning Resource Center at College of the Desert. She has twenty years of local government experience in workforce training, human resources and risk management. Ms. LiCalsi has a degree in Psychology and a Master's Degree from Chapman University in Human Resource Management and Organizational Development. Classes of Expertise: Interpersonal Communications, Interviewing, Unlawful Harassment, Decision Making and Problem Solving, Team Building, and Process Improvement.

Jeff Mayem has 22 years experience as a successful entrepreneur. After beginning his career in sales at IBM, he was involved with several successful startup companies, including Monogram Software, publishers of the best selling software "Dollars and Sense". He founded the Friendly Bytes Company, which made the first computer greeting card in 1983. Mr. Mayem is a member of the Adjunct Faculty at COD and is an instructor in the COD Leadership Series and Customer Service Academy. He has a BA from UCLA in Economics. Classes of Expertise: Computer Classes, Time Management, Project Management, Team Decision Making, Team Problem Solving, and Customer Service.
